While I was recently nostalgically revisiting Command and Conquer: Red Alert, thoughts of the recent South Australian election crossed my mind.
The result was this: an alteration of the traditional Red Alert Soviet single-player campaign map, featuring Australia in place of the original European map.
The original in-game Soviet and Allied respective red and blue colours have been commandeered to represent the political parties (ALP/LNP) forming government in each Australian state.* To highlight current political contention following the still yet to be decided result of the election and Labor's tremendous surprise performance, I have included South Australia in red. I've positioned the map marker over Adelaide, as it would have been used to highlight Moscow in the Soviet campaign.**
*The ACT is presented in the original game map neutral grey for Switzerland and Iceland (and a few others probably). This is for no discernible reason. I just wanted a neutral place on the map.
** I am a Labor voter and just made this for a bit of fun, so this should not be construed as anti-Labor. If anything, it's pro-Labor, because...only Labor can have Tesla Coils.
