Advance Australia Fairly

Poster designed during Design Studio to celebrate Refugee Week in my home state of South Australia. Poster appropriates Australian national anthem lyrics to highlight the cruel hypocrisy of Federal immigation policy as it pertains to our espoused - and supposed - national values. Core theme is that Australia has an obligation to be a role model for freedom and fairness due to our membership in the many international institutions of which our country is part, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights most importantly. National policy of 'mandatory detention' of refugees and asylum seekers is an afront to human rights and an embrassment to Australia. It contradicts with the values espoused in our national anthem. It makes Australia reknown for all the wrong reasons. It makes us hard to trust. It doesn't advance Australia fairly.
